The “Pravac“ school provides education that encourages critical thinking, thinking outside the box, stimulates children’s natural curiosity for acquiring usable knowledge and skills and developing competencies for a fulfilling life.

We are located in a quiet part of town, on Dedinje, in a space designed to awaken pleasant feelings and the will to learn and creativity. For a reason, we chose a space near the Hyde park, what allows us to conduct frequent classes in nature.

Our goal is for our students to be successful and good people, and in the soul naturalists and what they learned in elementary school is always carried in their hearts wherever they go.

Values we cherish in the “Pravac” school

In this competitive time, generosity and kindness are becoming less and less noticeable virtues. In the “Pravac” school, they are in in the first place, followed by cooperation and harmony. By developing sociability, empathy and communication in students, they evolve skills that will make them great people and help them realize their potential.

Our vision and mission

We see our students as successful and accomplished citizens, naturalists at the heart, who actively advocate and spread the values acquired in their primary school. This is how we approach them, this is how we educate them: to be independent, confident in themselves and open to others. Students of our school are active participants in the process of acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies.

Dimensions of learning in the “Pravac” school

Learning in the “Pravac” school is based on six basic dimensions. The first dimension relates to the development of the child’s personality. The peculiarity of every child is what we strive to recognize, evolve and create  onditions for each child to be accepted as they are, which contributes to their self-confidence and development of an integral personality. This is accompanied by the development of interpersonal relationships, and the second dimension relates to communication and cooperation. Before entering the dimension of acquiring school knowledge and skills, we recognize the need to teach students to learn, and this makes a special dimension of learning in our school. The development of critical thinking is high on the list of priorities in the process of acquiring knowledge, skills and competences of students. And finally, the development relationship students of the “Pravac” school with nature is a dimension of learning that is given special attention, because we want our students to always be aware that they are part of nature.

Teaching

In the “Pravac” school learning is not about sitting, listening and adopting what teachers say. Children have a natural need to think like scientists and we encourage them to do so. To think like a scientist means to observe the world around you, to ask questions, to formulate hypotheses and theories, to check them, to collect, analyze and discuss the results obtained, and to draw conclusions.

The series of questions children ask is the starting point for our joint research, whereby we strive to raise generations of children who have the confidence to ask questions, rather than merely accepting facts.

Preschool

The predecessor of the “Pravac” school is an accredited private preschool institution “Povratak prirodi” with two decades of experience in the work and application of unique pedagogy.

The work program is created separately each year, and it is designed, planned and implemented jointly by educators and professional associates.

As the twenty-year practice of the preschool institution “Povratak prirodi” has shown the benefit of the joint work of educators and teachers, we firmly believe that this model of teaching works motivating for all participants of the educational process, and provides children with the application of practical knowledge.
